What is Approval gate?
An approval gate is a mandatory human checkpoint between an AI agent finishing a piece of work and that work reaching a person outside your company. The agent researches, drafts and schedules autonomously; the finished output waits in a queue until a human releases it.
Why it matters
An approval gate exists because the cost of errors is asymmetric. An agent that mis-scores an account wastes a slot in a list, and you fix it by rescoring. An agent that sends a wrong, confused or off-brand message to a prospect has damaged a relationship and a sending domain, and there is no undo. Putting the gate exactly at the boundary of irreversibility keeps the automation where it is free and the supervision where it is cheap.
The secondary effect is deliverability. Mailbox providers score sending domains on engagement and complaints, and unsupervised volume drives both in the wrong direction. Because no human will approve thousands of messages a day, an approval gate structurally caps send volume at roughly what a domain's reputation can sustain — which turns a safety mechanism into a performance one.
Approval gates are not all equivalent. Some vendors place their own staff at the gate; Ridge AI places the customer, so the judgment applied is the one with the business context.
How Ridge AI handles it
Ridge AI generates an 11-section sales strategy from a 10-minute intake, sources and scores accounts against it, drafts the outreach and queues every human-facing message for approval. Research, enrichment, scoring and pipeline updates run unattended; the send does not. See how AI sales agents actually work or compare Ridge AI against a specific tool.
